About Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana

The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India has launched Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) under NRLM for providing Placement Linked Skill Development Training to rural BPL youth. This project envisages to fulfill the occupational aspirations of rural BPL youth and enhance their income through skilling.

To achieve the above objective the Ministry of Rural Development have introduced an effective Employment and Self- Employment based scheme for Rural BPL youths of the nation called Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). Under the DDU-GKY, assistance is given to the poor families living below the poverty line in rural areas for taking up training employment and self employment avenues.

Project Area

AISECT is one of the Project Implementing Agency for DDU-GKY Project empanelled the by Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India to train and provide employment opportunities to 2000 rural BPL youths across 11 districts: Ambala, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Jind, Karnal, Palwal, Panchkula, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat and Bhiwani of Haryana. The skill based training is provided in IT & ITeS, Retail and Sales sectors for the following Job Roles:

  • Domestic IT Helpdesk Attendant,
  • Associate-Desktop Publishing
  • Associate Customer Care – Non Voice,
  • Trainee Associate and
  • Store Operations Assistant etc.

All the above courses are aligned with the respective Sector Skill Councils NASSCOM and RASCI. The training programmes are of 3 months duration covering mandatory skills like Computer Skills, English Skills and Soft Skills other than Domain Specific Module in each course.

The design of contents and curriculum has been developed to meet the needs of relevant jobs available in the market, to facilitate the rural BPL youth in improvising their skills and avail better job opportunities for sustainable livelihood options. AISECT has initiated these trainings at 5 locations of 5 districts till date for about 356 rural BPL youth. Details are given in the table.
